A Mother’s Place

You lay on my breast as if safety lies between the right and the left

You have laid here long enough; my heart beat can’t save you from this world

I hold my breath as you remove yourself; if I don’t let you go;

who will…

The world is not the same without me knowing your plans

I can’t breathe but I know you must go and live

but remember to rest when you can

and if you need, I will be right here..
