“I thirst”
Gospel of John 19:28
I spoke of drinking of the cup
And how I must bear the cross
I know this moment I must fulfill
The wounds inflicted upon me in the tormenting,
the crowning of my head with thorns,
and the nailing upon the cross are now taking their toll,
after losing this much blood
from not just hanging but after the hours I walked
I am offered vinegar to numb this physical thirst
But capture this thought for a moment
I have now seen and bared each of your pain
And your souls are heavy from it all and now for your souls,
I thirst.
