Poetry Moment: Maya Angelou

It was not poetry that brought me to Maya Angelou.  I was 13 or 14 when I happened upon a book that title instantly peeked my interest.  This book was “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings.”  This autobiography was Maya’s coming of age story that took you from her early childhood to becoming a teen mother.  It still remains on my must read for women…Please Enjoy her poem that shares its name with one of my favorite books! Asking Sunshine: Attracted to My Husband’s Best Friend

Asking Sunshine I’m a 32-year-old married woman. I love my husband of 6 years, but recently I found myself attracted to my husband’s best friend. We all went to college together and for a brief time I dated him prior to even meeting my husband. When they were younger, adjusting to them felt natural, but now it is causing strain in our marriage.  My husband has not complained openly but I … Continue reading Asking Sunshine: Married with Children

My spirit is LOUD in telling me we’re not for each other, but there is so much history there, and I love him at the very least as a close friend. How can I get over this ideal of … Continue reading Asking Sunshine: Dating While Friends
